Do you know this woman?
It is known that women still suffer with the gender inequality and sexism in society. It's also possible to notice that they are hardly in the position of protagonist or owner of their own history. They are always hiding behind a man, hidden from their own lives. The project's goal is to show things are not like that. The idea is to create an app that shows female protagonism in Rio de Janeiro. As they walk through the city with the app online or logged in, tourists (understood as any person who has the app online or logged in) receive a notification when they walk by place where women made history or were protagonists in important moments. They may be famous or not. In the case of the non-famous ones, the notification will pop up at a place or neighbourhood where something relevant to her history happened.
Thinking about a real intervention, it's possible to put photos/drawing of those women with QR codes and the sentence "Do you know this woman?"
In order to do that, there are the following options:
1. Wheat-paste posters (low cost, but not very sustainable)
2. Urban art on walls or screens (which could be made by women who work with spray paint)
3. Digital LED displays
4. Projections in iconic places in the city. After activating the QR code, the file can come as text, video or audio.
All the options last up to two minutes. This way, residents and tourists can see Rio de Janeiro from a feminine point-of-view, empowering women and praising their participation in the history of the city. The goal is to provoke reflection, no matter how small, about the role of women and inspire people based on that.
